The role of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose in various industries

Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) is a white powder, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, and can be dissolved in cold water to form a transparent viscous solution.

Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose has the functions of thickening, bonding, dispersion, emulsification, film-forming, suspended solids, adsorption, gel, surface activity, moisturizing and colloidal protection.

Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is widely used in building materials, coatings, synthetic resins, ceramics, medicine, textiles, agriculture, cosmetics and other industries. According to the applications, HPMC can be divided into construction grade, food grade and pharmaceutical grade. Currently, most of the domestic production is construction grade. The construction grade putty powder is used in large quantities, about 90% of which is used to make putty powder, and the rest is used to make cement mortar and adhesives.

Cellulose ether is a non-ionic semi-synthetic polymer with water-solubility and solvent-solubility.

In different industrial fields, such as chemical building materials, it plays different composite roles, such as water retention agent, thickener, leveling, film forming, and binder.

Among them, the PVC industry belongs to emulsifier and dispersant, while the pharmaceutical industry belongs to binder and slow-release skeleton material. Due to the multiple functions of cellulose in the PVC industry, it has the widest application range.
